Regions

Cyprus is divided into 5 administrative regions, each named for its administrative capital.

Nicosia
Nicosia
is the capital and seat of government of the Republic of Cyprus, and as such is the farthest southeast of all EU Member states' capitals. It's also the world's last divided capital after the Turkish invasion in 1974. A unique combination of ancient and modern, Nicosia offers many activities that cater to all tastes. History enthusiasts will discover something interesting hidden behind every corner of the walled city’s narrow streets and corridors. Shoppers will be amazed by the wide selection of stores in the modern city’s posh districts and avenues. Nightlife seekers will be thrilled with the city’s vibrant club scene.

Limassol

Limassol is the largest coastal resort in Cyprus and as such has plenty of attractions on offer for visitors and locals alike. Whether you're after a relaxing beach vacation, or a more sophisticated cultural and historical tour, Limassol can cater to all.
The city attracts a considerable amount of visitors each year, who come to discover its beautiful beaches which offer numerous water activities such as scuba diving, jet skiing and para-gliding etc. Moreover, the city is significantly famous for its historical and archaeological sites that are to this day some of its most popular attractions

Larnaca

Larnaka is Cyprus' oldest soul; the longest continually inhabited region of the island, with a history that dates back 10,000 years, and the most centrally positioned, offering easy access to other regions.  A characteristic feature of the region is that tourists will find that there is no distinction between resort and town; locals and visitors alike can enjoy the same daily experience of a charming and diverse Mediterranean city. From stretches of varied coastline, a mix of traditional and cosmopolitan establishments and fascinating monuments, Larnaka seamlessly blends its two ‘faces’.

Paphos

Pafos, with its pleasant harbour and medieval fort, combines a cosmopolitan holiday resort, spectacular countryside and historical sites. The region offers the possibility of enjoying both sea and mountains, as well as getting a taste of the island's culture with its many archaeological sites.  Feel the romance in the air in the land where Aphrodite, the ancient Greek goddess of love and beauty, once roamed. Swim in the sea by the rocks known as Petra tou Romiou, where she was believed to have risen from the waves, make a pilgrimage to her sanctuary at Kouklia, or visit the grotto near Polis where she was supposed to have bathed. The Pafos region is the perfect place to celebrate a wedding or go for your honeymoon.

Famagusta

The temporary administrative centre of the Famagusta District is nowadays Paralimni, the largest municipality of the Greek Cypriot-controlled area of the district. It has 4 areas under its jurisdiction, namely the areas of Protaras, Ayia Triada, Kapparis and Pernera. These are the tourist areas which attract a huge number of local and foreign tourists every year. Their brilliant coasts together with their magnificent sandy beached are always ready to welcome anyone who wants to spend moments of relaxation and recreation on the island. In the non-occupied area of Ammochostos, there are umerouswonderful beaches and uniquely beautiful coastal zones that each visitors should drop by. The famous town of Ayia Napa is a landmark of the particular district, well-known for its magnificent beaches awarded for their cleanliness as well as the facilities they provide visitors with. Nowadays, Ayia Napa has an international reputation as it attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world every year.
