Fresh local cuisine is an important part of the island’s culture, and is intrinsically linked with every social event, from family gatherings and special occasions to religious festivals… each marked with its own distinct delicacies and recipes. From hearty meat dishes and specialty cheeses to unique desserts of carob and grape, the Cypriot cuisine is an exotic blend of Greek and Middle Eastern cultures, sprinkled with remnants of ancient civilizations such as indigenous Roman root vegetables or old Phoenician delicacies.
Traditional Foods to Enjoy in Cyprus 
Meze: a selection of hot and cold appetizers

Souvlaki: Chunks of meat—such as lamb, pork, chicken, and fish—that’s cooked on a skewer and seasoned with olive oil, oregano, and lemon.

Kleftiko: Is a traditional lamb dish that’s prepared baked in a kiln and cooked for a minimum of 24 hours in the clay oven

Stifado: This traditional and fragrant stew is made with rabbit (and sometimes beef) that’s simmered in wine, vinegar, onions, and popular Greek spices, like garlic and oregano.

Koupepia: These appetizers and Greek delicacies showcased minced meat (typically a mixture of lamb or pork) and white rice daintily wrapped in steamed grape leaves.

Halloumi: Cypriot semi-hard unripened brined cheese made from a mixture of goat's ans sheep's milk.

Cyprus Sausages (Loukanika): Made of selected fresh pork meat, wine, salt and spices.
